The Strengths Approach
Solution-oriented approaches focus more on the future and the present than the past, and more on building solutions than solving problems or looking for causes.
Obviously, each intervention has
to be uniquely tailored to the perspective and the needs of the client, as the therapist will explore the areas of concern that the client wants to focus on.
In fact, the model rests on the assumption that the client brings expertise to the therapy in terms of their understanding of their unique experience.

This is a major resource to be harnessed by the psychologist who aims to tailor the therapy to suit the client's needs.

Therapy Options
There are many different models of therapy used by psychologists to help with a broad range of
client needs
Below is a brief outline of some of the approaches used at Quinntessential Psych….
01.
Solution-oriented approaches focus more on the future and the present than the past, and more on
building solutions than on solving problems or looking for causes.
In fact, the model rests on the assumption that the client brings expertise to the therapy in terms of their
understanding of their unique experience, and that this is a major resource to be harnessed in the
therapy process.
02.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps clients develop a range of skills that enable a
different relationship to challenging thoughts and feelings in the interest of developing goals that
support the client to step more into being the person that they want to be, despite the challenges
that their life circumstances may currently present.
03.
Solution oriented hypnosis can be a useful adjunct to normal talk therapy for a range of issues, offering an experiential approach to developing or strengthening connections to resources that can help in developing solutions. The solution approach to hypnosis was pioneered by a renowned psychiatrist, the late Milton H. Erickson.

04.
Family Systems Theory draws on systemic thinking in it’s view of the family as a whole system. This
can generate different ways of thinking about problems and assist in developing interventions designed to
encourage problem resolution.
05.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing can be particularly useful in the treatment of PTSD and trauma related symptoms.

Mark offers this approach specifically in the treatment of post traumatic re-experiencing phenomena such as flashbacks and/or nightmares.
